The chairman of the organizing committee, Fred Ogot, who is also the Sports Editor of The Guardian on Sunday, said yesterday that they had reached into that decision after seeing the event was loved by many in the country.
“Members of the public do pay a lot of attention to beauty contests especially those organized by Miss Tanzania like Miss Tabata.
We have, therefore, come up with this theme knowing very well that our campaign will reach many people. We will make our campaigns reach to the needy people like orphanage centres and hospitals etc,” Ogot said.
He said that Miss Tabata was a crowd-pulling event which he believed would make members of the public be aware of the dangerous disease.
“We have arranged that our contestants do campaign into public places like offices, markets, mauls, shopping centers, stadiums and streets where people gather. We will also organize AIDS/HIV seminars.
We will also make campaign through banners, postures and fliers ” Ogot said, adding that the contestants would also make a three day trip to visit Mikumi National Park in Morogoro.
Miss Tabata will be held next month at Dar west Park Tabata.
More than 25 beauty queens are doing rehearsal at Dar West Park every day.
